Our exhibitors have been busy! February 19, 2018

This year’s exhibitors have been busy – launching new products, winning awards, opening new premises, and more. Here’s just a taste of what they’ve been up to – yet more reasons to visit the show next month!

Bartletts provide commercial refrigeration, catering equipment and air conditioning, and have been trading since 1958.  At the show, in conjunction with Falcon Foodservice Equipment, Paul Bayer & Ron Hedicker will be offering live cooking demonstrations with the new Lainox Naboo Combination oven. Slots are available each day at 10.30am, 1pm & 3.30pm but spaces are limited so contact Roger on roger@kfbartlett.co.uk if you’re interested! (Stand L23).

Nestled in a beautiful valley near the dramatic North Cornwall coastline, Callestick Farm has been farmed by the Parker family since 1953. Callestick Farm Cornish Ice Cream have been making Champion Cornish ice cream for generations to the original family recipe with free range milk from the 300 strong grass fed herd that graze naturally there,  Their award-winning ice cream is expertly made with their fresh whole milk, the finest confectionery and fruits – all wholesome, natural ingredients. They will be showcasing their 7 new flavours for 2018 at the show! (Stand F14).

Colwith Farm Distillery are Cornwall’s first single estate distillery, and they have a busy year ahead. At Easter they will be opening the region’s first and only single estate distillery complete with visitor centre hosting tours, gin & cocktail making experiences and more… The guided plough to bottle distillery tours will be followed by sampling in the bar. Your guide will walk you through everything from preparing the crops for the mash, cooking, fermenting, distilling, bottling.  Sounds like a good day out to us! (Stand G9).

Cornico Coffee Company have been coffee and tea specialists for over 35 years. All of their coffees are ethically traded with some blends being Fairtrade, Organic and Rainforest Alliance.  They are proud to announce that after months of building work their new City & Guilds Barista training facility opened in January 2018.  Their fully equipped Barista training school offers free training in the art of espresso, cappuccino and Latte Art. The courses also include customer service skills and tips including how to get the best from your equipment and optimise profits. (Stand J25).

The Curio Spirits Company  takes provenance and purity to another level – they use the best, most pure, Cornish spring water, and quadruple distil their artisan spirits by hand.  In 2017  Curio Spirits was shortlisted in the top five gin producers in the UK.  As if this wasn’t enough, they picked up a silver and a gold medal for their gins from the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), a gold medal from The Gin Masters and a top tree 3 star award from the Great Taste Awards, out of thousands of entries.  2017 also saw the launch of two new products. Gin alchemist and chief distiller William retreated to his lab for a few weeks and came out with not one, but two new spirits to tempt the curious – Cornish Cup, which is a smooth, honey-based gin, and the new hand-crafted Fly Navy Gin! Exmoor Ales are the largest independent cask ale brewery in Somerset. They attending the show for the first time, and their Exmoor Stag is now available in bottles alongside Exmoor Gold and Exmoor Beast. They’re a multi award winning independent craft Brewery with Exmoor Gold alone holding over 35 awards and a finalist in the 2017 Great British Beer Festival, so it’s no wonder they were recently invited to talk about their new seasonal beer, Exmoor Mild, on the Charlie Taylor radio show on BBC Somerset. (Stand L43).

Farm Frites‘ Ultimate Chip has scooped a coveted Chefs Choice Award, just four months after its launch to market. Farm Frites won the Best Meal Accompaniment category after judges declared that its Ultimate Chip was ‘a good crisp chip with a well-balanced flavour and texture’. The product was also praised for its texture and taste with judges stating they ‘are both of high standard’. Launched as the company celebrates 25 years in the UK, Farm Frites’ Ultimate Chip offers an authentic, high quality meal accompaniment for premium casual dining operators. It offers a truly rustic feel by being ‘perfectly imperfect’ in design; popular among consumers and for operators who offer a premium ‘gastro’ menu.  (Stand G43).

At Free to Book their software is updated, tested and continually improved. Launched in the New Year, their latest update, ‘SearchPro’, is designed with maximising direct bookings in mind – businesses can increase their direct bookings by 40%! SearchPro is another free upgrade which optimises their customers booking page; clear, easy and of course fully responsive. Their customers have increased flexibility and a variety of optional features to choose from to make their booking page as unique as their business. Freetobook was also a finalist in two categories at the Herald Scottish Family Business Awards 2017 – Fastest Growing Family Business and Business Innovation. (Stand H29).

In Safe Hands are exhibiting at Expowest for the first time. They provide all aspects of health and safety and first aid training solutions to a variety of businesses in Cornwall, nationally and abroad with a strong focus, locally, in the hospitality and food and drink sectors making Expowest the best platform to showcase their offering. Their unique approach to training has turned the pre-conceived dullness of health and safety training on its head! Last year they launched a state of the art Simulation Centre at their HQ in Indian Queens, the first of its kind in the UK. The Simulation Centre enables them to take learning out of the classroom and puts learners in simulated real life scenarios to make the learning experience more engaging, tangible and memorable. (Stand K28).

Moor Coffee, the company formerly known as ADDC, changed name in 2017, and is now firmly established and exhibiting for the first time at Expowest Cornwall with a wider range of coffee machines and an extended range of coffee beans. With over 25 years’ experience in the commercial beverage industry, they understand what it takes to run a successful, profitable coffee business and they are happy to go the extra mile to ensure that their customers are completely satisfied with their service. (Stand E39).

The Sweet Potato Spirit Company make the the UK’s first Sweet Potato Spirit Range, including vodka, liqueurs, rum and more.  They are launching 3 new lines to the market at the show – Orange Gin, Raspberry Gin, and Lavender Gin – all of which are distilled with care in small batches in copper stills, using their finest sweet potatoes. We bet you’ve never tried a sweet potato spirit, so if you get the chance, try the Pink Marshmallow Moonshine, it’s amazing! (Stand E20).

Based in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, Trewithen Dairy won three Great Taste Awards in 2017 for their Clotted Cream, Salted Butter and Cornish Spreadable, as well as receiving 3 Golds (Clotted Cream, Natural Yoghurt and Toffee & Apple Yoghurt) and 1 Silver at the 2017 Taste of The West Awards (Dairy Salted Butter). Trewithen Dairy has always been a family business and proud of it. They keep their products as close to nature as possible, and as a result, their taste is full of Cornish deliciousness. With natural goodness, and the care, attention and expertise you can taste every time, their dairy products are truly lovely stuff! (Stand F36).

Purple Planet Supplies have once again been selected by Vegware as an Official Distributor for 2018. They have increased their product range to cover the full range of Vegware products as they feel they offer the best quality fully compostable food and drink containers on the market. Purple Planet’s award-winning hot and cold drink cups, takeout boxes and food containers are low carbon, made from renewable or recycled materials, and all can be recycled along with food waste. None of their products contain plastic of any sort. (Stand J31).

This is Shower Part‘s first year at the show, and they’re really looking forward to it – they’ve got new banners and a new desk all ready for it! They supply shower rollers, wheels, handles and other shower parts to retail consumers as well as the trade throughout the UK, European Union and beyond. Their products are made out of high grade materials and have excellent durability and strength. Each of their products are subjected to a strict quality control procedure, before being sent to customers. (Stand H33).

Wine in Cornwall offer bespoke wine services to the on-trade, with competitive prices, unique products and great service. Established in 2000, they have become as one of the region’s leading independent wine shippers.  It’s their aim to offer the best service & choice to their customers. They ship many of our wines directly and enjoy exclusive arrangements with key suppliers at home and abroad. They operated as both retailers and wholesalers, and host regular tastings as well as an annual wine fair in November. They recently won the ‘Muddy Stilettos’ award for best Wine merchant in Cornwall which is all done through consumer voting. (Stand G9).
